Q & A WITH ARCADEM

We absolutely love the slots and it's always great for the iGaming industry when new game developers arrive on the scene. We've been given the opportunity today to have a chat with Phillip Douglas who is the Director of Gaming at the newly founded Arcadem.

Q. Can you tell us more about your working history within iGaming, how you have ended up in your current position and what your role is within Arcadem. If you could also shed a little bit of light upon Arcadem as well that would be great.?

A. Great to chat to you as always Nigel. My first venture within the industry was as a support agent, before moving on to casino coordinator, casino games manager and account manager roles. My current position is that of Founder and Director of Gaming at Arcadem. Arcadem’s goal is to produce top quality games, whether it be artwork, sounds or story.

Q. We absolutely love the slots as you’ve probably guessed, with one of our main focuses being on the Megaways™ series of games. What do you think it takes to make and bring a successful slot to market?

A. Megaways is great example of a game mechanic that offers a lot of versatility, however you cannot just relay on one mechanic for every game. I firmly believe creating a game with the players perspective is a key component in creating a successful slot, as if you don’t have the quality in your artwork, sounds, theme or even mechanics, then players simply won’t enjoy playing a slot.

Q. We’ve heard some rumblings that you are set to bring some slots to the iGaming market yourself. What can you tell us about this so far? And what can players expect from your offerings?

A. Of course I’d love too! Our first game ‘The Neon Samurai: Kawa’ debuts exclusively with an operator this August and for general release on the 8th of September.

We’ve created a partnership with the music duo Ticon, to create custom music for our games, with Kawa being the first. I believe players are going to love our twist on the sci fi future theme you see in such popular cult movies like ‘The Fifth Element’ or up coming video games like “Cyberpunk 2077’.

Players can always expect a nostalgic feel from our games, with a fresh twist that’s quality driven at its core.

Q. Game providers are all very different in their approach to releasing slots within the market. Some prefer to focus more on quantity, whilst others may only release a handful of games each year. What approach will you be taking at Arcadem?

A. As previously mentioned our drive is quality for our players and clients, we always plan to have the best artwork, sound and themes for our games. If this means we only release a handful of games per year, so be it.

Q. Following on from that, do you have a release date for any of your slots yet?

A. Yes, we have ‘ The Neon Samurai: Kawa’ releasing on September 8th, with our next game releasing in Mid November ‘ The Evil Elf: The Night Before Christmas’ featuring our very mischievous character Frostberries, she’s one wicked elf.

Q. Would you say that there are any slot providers or style of games that have helped influence you when creating ideas for games?

A. That’s rather hard to say which provider or styles have had an influence, there’s so much content out there from the past 10 - 15 years, it would be unfair of me to give one credit and not all of them, as the industry as a whole has influenced me and the players themselves.

Q. How do you see the next 18 months playing out for yourself and Arcadem? Whats the main goal?

A. The goal for Arcadem is rather simple, create great content, show the industry what we can do and have fun doing it!

Q. Right now to put you on the spot. Going forward during our Q & A sessions we’re asking all those that take part to name their top 5 slots of all time.

A. I would honestly say you’re putting me one the spot with this one, I love talking about games.

In no particular order, my top 5 would be:

Koi Princess
Immortal Romance
Steam Tower
Ivanhoe
Bier Haus

WRApping things up

Thanks again Phillip, it's been a pleasure getting the opportunity to have a chat with you. We shall eagerly await having a play on The Neon Samurai: Kawa, as it sounds awesome from what you've told us so far.
