Cubes starts off in the base game with a 5x5 cluster pays grid and a middle multiplier value of x1 that can increase and help to provide you with some good wins. The aim of the game is to hit combinations of the same coloured cubes in clusters of 5 or more, if this is achieved then the grid will increase in size to 7x7.

Adding to your cluster or making a new win on the extended grid will again see it increase in size to 9x9, further extensions or new clusters will cause the grid to then reach its maximum size of 11x11. Players should note that their winnings will only be paid to them when the grid can no longer be extended in size, so this means for example if you don't hit a win past 9x9 all formed combinations will be paid, or if the grid reaches the maximum size all wins will then be paid.

Each new spin of the reels will also see the middle multiplier cube change colour, if you can get a winning combination that involves the multiplier it will increase in value to the number of cubes that are involved in the win, further additions to the win as the grid expands will also see the multiplier increase. As before all winnings will be paid at the end of the series of spins.

At the top of the cluster pays grid you will note that the word CUBES is in place spelt out with white letters. Each time that you form a cluster of cubes of 5 or more then that colour will fill one of the letters. If you can fill all 5 letters with different colours in one series of spins then the free spin bonus will be triggered.

Upon triggering the feature you are invited to choose from 6 cubes. Your chosen cube will then reveal the colour of your cube that will remain sticky for the duration of the free spin bonus, and the amount of spins you have been awarded which can be up to 10.

As the free spins begin the main aim is to get as many of your selected cubes to cluster as possible. The grid will behave in the same way as it does during the base game, but this time when it extends it will stay at that size when you no longer improve your win, or form a new combination. 

The free spin bonus also includes the colour blast, which is the whole point behind your selected sticky cube at the start of the bonus. If you can form a cluster of over 70 of your selected cube then you will be awarded with 2500x your stake.

It's always nice to see something a little different from a slot provider, and Cubes definitely brings us just that. It kind of reminds us of the classic game Tetris in some respects, and has a very retro feel to it.

Whilst the game has an interesting free spin feature it shouldn't be ignored that the middle multiplier can also produce some big wins in the base game. With this feature active it certainly gave us the impression that the base game was quite generous, which is always a bonus as a player because there is nothing worse than seeing your balance being depleted at an alarming rate.
