The book located on the left hand side of the screen will randomly land on a page before each spin, it will either stop on Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, or the Nine.

For that spin of the reels whatever page the book stops on will count as your expanding symbol and if you can land a minimum of 3 of that given symbol then the reels will expand like in the picture above and give you a win.

You should also note that if the book scatter symbol lands on the reels it will count as your expanding symbol for that spin. This means if only two of your symbols are in view and also a book, the two reels will expand and still pay you a small win.
