Some remakes work, and some don't. Unfortunately in our opinion 88 Fortunes Megaways™ falls into the latter category. To really get anything out of the game pay wise, like you can in other Megaways™ Slots, you need to be playing at the maximum amount of gold symbols, and for some players this is just going to be too much in terms of their playing budget. 

It was noticeable in the SG Gaming releases that were Rainbow Riches Megaways™, and Raging Rhino Megaways™, that the cascading reels seem to take an age to fall down and calculate the wins, for some players we're sure this won't be an issue, but it was really noticeable on this slot for us and we quickly became bored of it in all honesty.

Fans of the original slot may find this a welcome addition the Megaways™ portfolio, but this isn't one that we will be revisiting anytime soon for some gameplay.
